Kidtection featured in – A night out or a weekend

Deciding if your tween or teen is ready to be left home alone can be a tricky decision. A tween is a boy or  girl aged 8 to 12 and a teen aged 13-19. We at Kidtection focus on 8-16 ages a tween or a teen.  We believe that third adult in the house (aside from the parents is a vital person) especially in long school holidays and after school.  However, home alone there is much to consider, we would never consider leaving an under 16 year old alone for a whole weekend (unless adults popping in) at least.

The Impact of Social Media on Children, Adolescents, and Families

Using social media Web sites is among the most common activity of today’s children and adolescents. Any Web site that allows social interaction is considered a social media site, including social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter; gaming sites and virtual worlds such as Club Penguin, Second Life, and the Sims; video sites such as YouTube; and blogs. Such sites offer today’s youth a portal for entertainment and communication and have grown exponentially in recent years. For this reason, it is important that parents become aware of the nature of social media sites, given that not all of them are healthy environments for children and adolescents. Pediatricians are in a unique position to help families understand these sites and to encourage healthy use and urge parents to monitor for potential problems with cyberbullying, “Facebook depression,” sexting,...

21ST CENTURY CHILDCARE

21ST CENTURY CHILDCARE Kidtection is a childcare agency with a new approach. An enriched philosophy for the 21st Century. Norland or NNEB trained nannies specialise in baby and early years. Our team focuses on life skills blended with teachings already absorbed from early years. Our Kid Protection Specialists (KPSs) focus on listening and getting your children prepared to start to think for themselves. All Kidtectionists have a responsibility to look after the direct and indirect actions of the children they are responsible for. This includes supporting their physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs. Not only do we surpass every nanny agency in screening (we investigate and evaluate), we also shape the future of childcare through the introduction of increased situational awareness. Children of all ages, but especially young teens may not think theyneed keeping an...

THE BENEFITS OF USING AN AGENCY LIKE KIDTECTION

Seonaid tell us why you invested in the business as the Seed Investor? I have had 12 nannies in 14 years and found the process very hard, agencies and internet sites such as Gum Tree were not effective. I found that agencies rarely visited you (the parent) and overall the matching process was very poor, it was all about fees. This left a gaping hole in the market. Hiring Au Pairs was not a good idea for teens as most Au Pairs are teens themselves, many with home sick issues, and no true experience in a parenting role. They tend to spend their spare time on Facebook and other social media rather than being a friend to your teen. I see a nanny/ manny as a member of a home team. They need to be your eyes and ears on social media. My children do not want ‘mum’ on Facebook/ Instagram but they will have the nanny, who can monitor things and step in when needed. There seems to be a huge...
